Domfront - Medieval City

When we were looking for a property to purchase in Lower Normandy, we discovered a number of beautiful areas with cities that we could really see ourselves living in. We looked at Falaise, Mayenne, Alencon, Flers, Bagnoles D'Orne but none stood out like the city of Domfront!

With a history going back well over a thousand years, Domfront was built on a hill & so was a perfect fortress town. William the Conqueror built the castle & enforcements that cover the city & much of the Chateau is still visible at the highest point in the city.

During the second world war, much of Domfront was badly damaged as the troops fought street by street. The damage was striking but the city rebuilt itself after the war and created a modern place to live that is still adapting to modern life. With its fantastic food market on Fridays (sausages sizzling on the barbeque, beautiful produce), multiple cafes, restaurants, shops, cycle hire & leisure activities, Domfront is an ideal place to go for a long or a short break from normal life! Luckily La Bouyardière is only 5 minutes away & with free & easy parking, it is always a pleasure to visit. @cybevasion #cybevasion @bookingcom #bookingcom
